I Can't Connect to My Server
The server is running but you (or your friends) can't join? Check these in order.
1. Is the server actually Running?
Players can only connect while the status is Running — not Stopped, Starting, or Error. Confirm on the server's instance page. See Understanding Server Status.
2. Are you using the right address and port?
Each game uses specific ports. Double-check the IP and port on the server's instance page against your game's guide:
- Find the exact ports in your game's configuration guide.
- Make sure you're entering them in the right place (direct connect vs. server browser).
3. Is there a password?
If you set a server password in the game settings, players must enter it to join. Confirm everyone has the correct password.
4. Give a freshly started server a moment
Right after reaching Running, a game may still be finishing its final load. Wait a minute and try connecting again.
5. Try the right connection method
Some games connect best via direct connect / Join by IP, others via an in-game or Steam server browser. Your game guide lists the recommended method.
