Choosing a Region
The region is the physical data-center location where your server runs. Choosing the right one is the single biggest factor in your players' ping.
Why region matters
The further your server is from a player, the higher their latency (ping). Pick a region that's geographically central to most of the people who'll be playing.
Regions are grouped by continent
In the wizard, regions are grouped by continent so you can find a nearby one quickly. We host in locations across:
| Continent | Example locations |
|---|---|
| North America | Virginia, Iowa, Texas, California, Washington, Toronto, Querétaro |
| South America | São Paulo |
| Europe | Ireland, Netherlands, London, Paris, Frankfurt, Zürich, Warsaw, Milan, Madrid |
| Asia-Pacific | Singapore, Jakarta, Tokyo, Seoul, Hong Kong, Sydney, Mumbai/Pune, Auckland |
| Middle East | Dubai, Tel Aviv |
| Africa | Johannesburg |
The exact list available in the wizard may vary by game and over time.
Tips for choosing
- Same country or nearby is almost always best.
- For an international group, pick a region that's central to the group, or closest to the majority of players.
- If you're unsure, start with the closest region to you — you can always recreate later in a different one.
Can I change region after creating?
Yes. You can move a server to a different region from its Server Settings blade — see Server Settings.
