Pausing Billing by Stopping
Stopping a server is the main way to control your spending — and you don't lose the time you already paid for.
Stopping pauses billing
When you stop a running server:
- It stops charging immediately. You are not billed while a server is stopped.
- Any unused time in the hour you already paid for is banked.
Banked time is restored when you start again
The next time you start the server, the time you had banked is restored before any new hourly charge applies. In other words, you don't pay twice for the same hour just because you stopped and started within it.
Example: you start a server and are charged for one hour, then stop it after 20 minutes. About 40 minutes of paid time is banked. When you start it again, it runs on that banked time first before the next hourly charge.
Your data is safe while stopped
Stopping a server does not delete it or its save data. Game saves are preserved so you can pick up where you left off. To remove a server permanently, you must explicitly delete it — see Deleting a Server.
How to stop a server
Click Stop on the server card in your Console, or open the server and stop it from its instance page. The status moves to Stopping and then to a stopped state. See Starting & Stopping.
