Installing & Managing Mods
Some games support mods — community-made add-ons that change or extend gameplay. You install them right from the server's Mods blade.
Which games support mods?
Mod support is per-game. Today, Factorio is the moddable game — see its configuration guide. The Mods blade only appears for games that support mods.
Installing mods
On the Mods blade:
- Search the game's mod registry by name.
- Select the mods you want — they're added to your list.
- Save your selection. The mods are installed the next time the server starts.
You can remove mods, and enable or disable individual ones, from the same list.
Factorio needs a mod-portal account
Factorio downloads mods using your own Factorio Mod Portal account. The Mods blade asks for your Factorio username and token so your server can fetch the mods you selected. Your token is stored securely and is never shown back to you.
Saving mods on a running server
If you change mods while the server is Running, applying them requires a restart. You'll be asked to confirm, since restarting briefly disconnects anyone playing. If you confirm, the server saves, restarts, and comes back with your new mod list.
A note on performance
Mods add CPU and memory load. Add a few at a time and, if the server starts to struggle, consider resizing up to a larger tier.
Changes are logged
Mod changes (added, removed, enabled, disabled) are recorded in the server's Activity Log.
