Understanding Server Status

Every server shows a status that tells you what it's doing right now. Here's what each one means.

Status reference

Status Meaning
Starting The server is provisioning and launching the game. It'll be playable once it reaches Running.
Running The server is up and ready for players to connect. It is being billed each hour.
Stopping The server is shutting down cleanly (saving your world). Billing is being paused.
Error Something went wrong. See the troubleshooting tips below.
Deleting The server is being permanently removed. This can't be undone.

A server that has finished stopping sits idle and is not billed until you start it again.

When a server is "busy"

While a server is Starting, Stopping, or Deleting, it's mid-operation. During these states the configuration blades (Server Settings, Game Settings, Mods) are locked and show a "please wait" note until the operation finishes. This prevents conflicting changes.

The Error state

An Error status means the server hit a problem. Common causes and fixes are covered in My Server Won't Start. In many cases a restart resolves it; if not, the Activity Log records the error detail.
