Server Settings (Resizing)
The Server Settings blade on a server's instance page is where you change its region and its size.
Changing the size (resizing)
Pick a different size tier (Small, Medium, or Large) to give your server more or less CPU and RAM:
- Upscaling to a larger size charges a prorated difference for the rest of the current hour and resets the hourly timer. It's rejected if your balance can't cover the charge.
- Downscaling to a smaller size is free and keeps your existing paid time.
You'll see the new hourly rate before you confirm. Full billing details are in Changing Server Size & Cost.
Changing the region
You can move a server to a different region. This is useful if your group's location changes or you want lower ping somewhere else. Choose carefully — see Choosing a Region.
When settings are locked
If the server is mid-operation (Starting, Stopping, or Deleting), the Server Settings blade is locked until the operation finishes. Wait for the status to settle, then make your change.
Changes are logged
Region and size changes are recorded in the server's Activity Log, including the before-and-after values and the hourly-rate change.
